Here at JW McDonald Kitchens & Bathrooms we see plenty of kitchen installation or refurbishment quotes, so we thought it may be helpful to share some tips to who is maybe just starting out in this process to leverage a better costing.
We know that worktop installation is a very important part of a kitchen fitters job, and the options are endless so I wanted to give you all some ways to understand a kitchen fitter’s labour costing. When fitting a standard veneer finished worktop which has many effects such as marble, speckled finish, wood like grain these worktops these are ‘limited’ in their installation, we can join the worktops with joining bars or by cutting and clamping them together which is better and more aesthetically pleasing.
However we also see a lot demand from our clients these days wanting natural stone worktops, sadly we are not able to install these worktops, this is because you will need a specialist in this specific field of work to do that instead. However, did you know there is an alternative? Yes, it is known as a resin worktop, which is the ‘lookalike’ version of the stone worktop but at a fraction of the price and any of our kitchen fitters can install them. The good thing with stone or resin worktops is that you can have under mounted sinks and and built in draining flutes which will add a touch of class to you kitchen installation.
Our advice to get an estimated cost for both types of material so you can see if you have made any savings.
