Here at JW McDonald Kitchens & Bathrooms Ltd we quote on a lot of jobs some small bathroom renovation jobs but some are bathroom remodel jobs.

Bathroom remodelling we think more to do with ripping the original bathroom but keeping most of the layout the same. This could be because the small bathrooms or shower rooms are set out with the toilet, bath or shower waste in places that cannot be changed. This makes most customers remodel their bathroom or shower room in line with the original layout.
When we quote for what we call a bathroom renovation, this will involve the customer trying to work from a blank canvas to create something new and bring everything up to date and current.
The bathroom remodel will be more restricted to what’s already there and even keep some of the original bathroom or shower room sanitary ware, bath & shower thermostats. Some bathroom or shower room remodel job will be about just re-tiling, decorating and installing a new shower.
We have had bathroom renovations that have much more of what we call infrastructure, this means more, electrical work, plumbing work, new plasterboard stud walls, new ceilings, new door ways, room extensions, plastering, heat insulation, lighting, under floor heat, wet or electric. We find a lot of this is labour and materials you cannot see and appreciate because it is hidden behind the finish materials & sanitary ware.
The cost difference between most of our bathroom or shower room remodel jobs and renovation jobs can be dramatically different and is hard to quantify in cost terms. We think that the cost of bathroom or shower room remodel will work out cheaper for most customers from our perspective.
